Donuts and vegetables are both food. But should you eat both donuts and vegetables every single day? Lol, you already know the answer to that.
Donuts, like many other tasty treats can be wonderful to enjoy every now and then. But if you eat donuts every single day, well, those donuts can do a number on your health. But I know you already know that.
Overdoing it on sugary treats like donuts can lead to weight gain, inflammation, and even wrinkles. Excess sugar can also increase your risk of dementia and Alzheimer's, heart disease, diabetes, and some cancers. Too much sugar can even lead to highs and lows in your mood.
And the crazy thing is —the more sugar you eat —the more your taste buds get wired for sugar.
Vegetables on the other hand offer your body all kinds of nutritional goodness to help keep you healthy and strong. Vegetables are good for your heart and offer the rest of you, including your brain, protection. They reduce the risk of strokes, cancer, diabetes, and inflammation. Yes, vegetables are so very good for you.
And I get it, eating broccoli isn’t usually (ever?) as exciting as eating a donut with sprinkles — but eating broccoli and other vegetables affords you the wiggle room to enjoy donuts and other treats, every now and then, without wreaking havoc on your health.
Bottom line:
Eat your vegetables. Eat ‘em every day.
Don’t forget to enjoy a sprinkle donut or some other tasty treat — every now and then.
